NITDA commissions first ever ICT hub in Katsina

KATSINA — In its bid to complement President Muhammadu Buhari’s quest to address youth unemployment, National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA, has  resolved to establish Information and Communication Technology, ICT, Innovation Hub in six geo-political zones across the country.

Director General of the agency, Dr. Isa Pantami, who disclosed this, yesterday,  while handing over the first ever ICT Innovation Hub, established by the agency in Katsina to the state government, said the ICT centres were to promote digital innovations and entrepreneurship among the teeming unemployed youths in the country.

Pantami said the establishment of the centres was to encourage and mentor the youths and help them incubate their innovative ideas as well as make ICT tools available to them.

According to him, “Today, the country under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, is seeking to minimize its dependency on oil by diversifying the economy to evolve entirely new industries and enable the existing ones. We strongly believe that the main driver of these industries is ICT. Therefore, we must encourage and empower our pool of young talented youths to take advantage of the digital era.”
