2019: North-West women, govs’ wives endorse Buhari for second term

KATSINA—As the 2019 general election draws nearer, women under the aegis of North West Movement for Buhari in 2019 have endorsed  President, Muhammadu Buhari for a second term.

The women, including wives of governors and their deputies from the zone said they were backing the President based on his  achievements in the past three years.

Speaking at an event organized by the women movement in Katsina weekend, the wife of Katsina State Governor, Hajiya Hadiza Masari,  said their resolve to support the candidature of President Buhari in 2019 was due to his purposeful leadership and all round development of the country at large, including war against corruption, insecurity and women empowerment.

Hadiza said Buhari and the governors deserved  women’s support because  women had reaped dividends of democracy courtesy of the APC-led administration.

Similarly, the wife of Katsina State Deputy Governor and chairperson of the local organizing committee of the event, Hajiya Mariya Yakubu, said women in Katsina and the North West had every reason to identify with APC political office holders in view of their commitment to improving the women’s wellbeing.

She said: ”Without mincing words, Buhari has been doing a lot for Nigerians and North West women will remain grateful to him and others complementing his efforts.”

The Minster of Women Affairs, Hajiya Aisha AIhasan represented by the wife of former governor of Kogi State, Ambassador Aisha Abubakar Audu hailed the turnout of women at the rally describing it as a clear demonstration of support to the APC-led government and stressed the need for more support for Buhari and other patriotic leaders.

However, highlights of  the event includes Phase I of an empowerment scheme were thousand of women were empowered to the tune of N10million by the women movement.

On her part, the wife of Kebbi State Deputy Governor, Hajiya Halima Samaila, who launched the empowerment packages disbursed to about 3000 women in Katsina State, said the gesture is part of the contributions of the movement to APC led government’s commitment to empowering women to be self reliant.

The Kebbi Deputy Governor’s wife noted that the association which was formed to support Buhari and other candidates of the APC in 2019 general elections plans similar empowerment packages for women in all the North Western states aside providing humanitarian services to the less privileged persons.

Responding on behalf of other beneficiaries of the empowerment start up capital, Aisha Daura advised the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the capitals to better their lives and immediate families.
