NULASS disassociates self from solidarity walk for Ambode

By Elizabeth Uwandu

THE   National Union of Lagos State Students, NULASS, has debunked claim that it hosted a  rally tagged: Solidarity walk for Akinwunmi Ambode, incumbent governor of Lagos State last Friday.

This is as the body through its executive council alleged that an unrecognised faction of  NULASS was being used by some politicians to perpetuate unconstitutional roles.

Akinwunmi Ambode

In a Press release obtained by Vanguard, Ottun Adewale Omolade, national president, NULASS, stated that “students are important to the legitimacy of any political group. However, it has been the practice of some politicians and personalities to orchestrate, cajole and entice students leadership to work in their favour. Some politicians even go to the extent of bribing, gifting and all manner of shenanigans.

“It is evidently clear that a false body of executive members allegedly have been procured by some elements in Lagos State   to host a movement and rally. This movement is not recognised by the union and those that constitute the said rally are mere thugs who are impersonating us, the union executive members. It is evident that these people parading as NULASS executes in recent time have proven the stuff they are made of since they have ready allies within the state to campaign for the 2019 elections.

“The said ‘Solidarity walk for Ambode” allegedly held last weekend was not organised by us. We believe we will draw enough sympathy so that we may be vindicated against the impostors who have ravaged our union for their own selfish purposes.
