WAR AGAINST SEXUAL VIOLENCE: Cross section of secondary students at the sensitisation programme against rape and sexual violence organised by Mirabel Sexual Assault & Referral Centre, in Lagos last week.

ABUJA – A Non Governmental Organisation, Inner Wheel Club, Garki, Abuja has raised the alarm over the increasing rate of sexual violence and rape of young female girls in the country.

Consequently, the group has embarked on sensitization on how to reverse the trend.
Speaking at Government Secondary School, Mabushi, Abuja as part of activities to mark the 2018 International Women’s Day, President of Inner Wheel Club Garki Mrs Kemi Towobola – Lanloye advised female students not to allow themselves to be used by anyone for prostitution.
Lanloye told female students to report any case of rape or molestation to their school Authority and their parents.
The group leader also said the level at which young girls were being raped in schools was something everybody should fight against.
She explained that the sensitization programme was part of the effort of the group to join others in the fight against sexual abuse in the Country and to show love to the needy .
On her part, a former national representative of the group, Mrs Grace Adekoya appealed to parents to give their children good upbringing and always engage them in a discussions about their schools and friends.
The principal of the school Mr. John Hosea said he was impressed with the effort of the group for putting together such initiative to teach the students not to involve in any bad acts that could affect their future.
