WARRI—United Ijaw Political Forum, UIPF, an Ijaw pressure group in Delta State, has resolved to purchase nomination form for three-time Senator, James Manager, representing Delta South senatorial district, to re-contest the senatorial election in 2019.
National President of the group, Chief E. T. Pere-Otubu, in a statement, criticising the role of two former governors in the approaching election, said: “We, the members of the aforementioned body, hereby without mincing words have equally decided to buy the nomination form for our amiable, dynamic and trusted leader, Senator James Ebiowei Manager, to re-contest Delta South senatorial district seat come 2019.”
The Ijaw group urged the former governors to “stay clear of Delta South senatorial district seat, which is our own,” adding: “There is no way Senator Manager would allow an Itsekiri person to ascend that seat come rain come sun.”
UIPF stated that Ijaw and Isoko tribes are the majority in the district and it was unacceptable for any person or group of persons to use their positions to undermine their supremacy.
