Lar mourns Shagaya, says he was a strong advocate of unity

Jos – Member representing Langtang North/Langtang South federal constituency in the House of Representatives Beni Lar has said the demise of Senator John Shagaya who was a member of her constituency is not only a loss to the Tarok nation where he hailed from but to Plateau State and Nigeria as a whole.

Lar who noted her constituency was devastated and deeply saddened by the demise of the Senator added that the deceased was a strong advocate of unity and a fine soldier who left behind indelible footprints.

In a statement issued in Jos yesterday, she stated, “The death of Senator John Shagaya is not only a loss to the Tarok nation, but Plateau State and Nigeria at large. The country has lost an intelligent soldier who has served the country meritoriously in both constituency and national assignments. His immense contribution to the development of Nigeria will be greatly missed at this critical moment of the country.

“Late Shagaya was a detribalized Nigerian whose love for his people and the nation is unrivalled. He was a strong advocate for the unity of Nigeria, which guided his actions in the Senate and in any capacity he found himself. Langtang North/Langtang South federal constituency will miss a fine and honest former representative.

“He left behind him indelible footprints of professionalism both in military and in politics. Shagaya was a man of integrity, personal honour, service and passionate commitment to the best Nigerian ideals. The entire Taroh nation mourns the demise of this worthy son who has not only contributed to the growth and development of Taroh land but Plateau and Nigeria as a whole.”
