Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha, has said that the reason why Nigerian youths remained in poverty was because they lack information, communication and enlightenment, noting that they should seek for information especially from people who are above them to alleviate poverty.

Okorocha’s statement came through a release to newsmen in Owerri, by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Sam Onwuemeodo, while declaring open first Imo Youth Annual lecture series held in Owerri.

He said that the difference between the rich and poor “is information.”

This came two days, after Okorocha said 89 percent of Nigerians are not happy adding that “vital aspect of human existence which is happiness must be addressed.”

According to the statement, “Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has said that the difference between the rich and the poor is information and then told the youths in the Country that since information is key to success, they should therefore develop appetite for information.

“As the future of this great Country and State, you must rise to convert your potentials into action. Arouse your kinetic energy and see results of what you can do or become in the nearest future.

“To do this, the very key is information. There is no difference between the rich and the poor but information. Make friends with somebody you can answer Sir. Seek transfer of knowledge rather than seeking for money, for money can finish but knowledge is always there.

“You are created with something deposited right inside you and never fail nature that expected you to rise to fulfill your dreams. So you must not fail creation. Lack of vision brings poverty and the worst poverty is poverty of the mind. You must set lofty and achievable goals for yourselves.”
