Ambode charges accountants to uphold ethics of profession

Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode has charged accountants to always adhere strictly to the ethics of accounting profession and contribute their quota to the upliftment and development of the country.

Ambode, gave the charge yesterday, at the 11th Annual Public Lecture Dinner and Award Nite of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, ANAN,  Ikeja Branch,  held at Lagos LTV, Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos.

Ambode, represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Samuel Ojo, maintained that accountants holds a very strategic place in moving the nation forward and nevertheless should be role models and pace setters who should guide all other professions aright as far as accountability and pioneering multidisciplinary emphasis in the production of well blended accounting professionals in the country is concerned.

Ambode, however, commended members of ANAN, Ikeja Branch.for sustaining the annual lecture, which according to him had not only been a source of inspiration to other professions, but has awaken them from slumber and make ANAN, Ikeja Branch,  a reference point for others to take a que, while also urging them not to relent but always create avenue to always soar high.

“Let me commend the leadership of the association for  protecting the accounting profession and your high sense of patriotism by making us proud in the State and always excelling and proof yourself as efficient, reliable and dependable professionals anywhere you represent us”, Ambode enthused.

Also earlier, the Chairman of the Annual Dinner/Award, Mrs Olufunke Tayo, while presenting prize to the winner of the quiz competition, tagged ‘CATCH THEM YOUNG’, which was won by Yaba College of Technology, also maintainted strategic position of accountantants in moving the nation forward, just as she charged professional accountants, especially those practising in the state to move at per with Ambode in his drive at turning the state into a smart city.
