THE Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe-led South West chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday warned the party leadership against conducting the December 9 convention with the wrong delegates from the zone.
Ogundipe said this at a press conference in Lagos, shortly after the exco paid a courtesy visit to the party’s former deputy national chairman, Chief Bode George.
He, however, warned that “If the national convention goes ahead without our involvement, we will go to court.”
The PDP chieftain commended Chief George and other notable leaders in the party for their intervention in the crisis rocking its zonal.
He, however, maintained that the Eddy Olafeso group was fighting needless and lost battle.
He said: ““In order not to take any step(s) that will contaminate the December 9 National Convention and render it a nullity, Chief George and other notable leaders of our party in the zone have resolved to alert the national leadership of our party to the potential landmine that this could be if not properly and carefully handled.”
However, following the parallel meetings called last week in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital by the authentic Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe-led South West zonal exco on the one hand and the group led by Mr. Eddy Olafeso on the other hand, our father, leader and elder statesman, Chief Olabode George; former National Vice-Chairman (South West), Alhaji Tajudeen Oladipo and other concerned notable leaders decided to call a meeting with a view to getting to the roots of the matter and establishing the truth. Upon hearing from the parties to the dispute and seeing all the relevant documents that we presented, including result sheet, rulings, orders and judgment of the court, it dawned on Chief George that the Olafeso group was fighting a needless and loss battle.
