Jos—As tension mounts in Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State over rumoured cancellation of last Saturday’s All Progressives Congress, APC, councillorship primaries, party leaders in the locality have appealed for calm, saying there was no such plan in the offing.
It will be recalled that the party’s councillorship primaries, conducted to produce candidates for the February 2018 local government elections, had been marred by complains, despite the party’s claim that the exercise was a success.
Rumours from Kanam council have it that the party is set for a repeat of the exercise in the locality, when names of successful candidates had already be sent to the party’s headquarters in Jos.
However, the Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mr. Saleh Yipmong, the immediate past Deputy Speaker, Yusuf Gagdi, and a party chieftain, Amos Gizo, who are from the local government, yesterday, insisted that there will be no such thing, as they were only expecting the chairmanship primaries, billed for this Saturday.
