The Enugu State Boxing Association (ESBA) is to stage a three-day boxing tournament, aimed at harnessing talents from the grassroots.
The tournament is scheduled to take place from Nov. 23 to Nov. 25 in Enugu.
The ESBA Coach, Blaise Ude, made the disclosure in an interview with newsmen in Enugu on Wednesday.
Ude said that the championship was aimed at discovering talents, who would be groomed to future champions.
He said that the championship was open to boxers in all the 17 Local Government Areas of the state as well as boxers from neighboring states.
“We are trying to discover hidden talents that can be groomed to represent the state in future competitions like the National Sports Festival, among others.
“The championship will also help to keep our boxers in shape, ahead of the Boxing League starting in January.’’
