Catholics in Lagos hold novena to Immaculate Conception

The Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos has concluded plans for the hosting of the 2017 Novena, which is nine days of prayers – in preparation for the Solemnity of The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The event starts on Wednesday, November 29 to Friday, December 8, 2017 at the Archdiocesan Marian Shrine in Maryland.

Activities will include daily rosary prayers, sacraments of confession and anointing of the sick, stations of the cross, exposition of the blessed sacrament, benediction, daily masses and an all-night vigil.

The novena which is being hosted by the Archdiocesan Board of Church Wardens has as its theme “Rejoice, You Highly Favoured One” (Luke 1:28) and it will start at 4pm every day.

Dr. Alfred Adewale Martins, the Archbishop of the Metropolitan See of Lago will lead Catholic faithful  from Lagos and adjoining dioceses to participate in the novena which will be rounded-off on the feast day of The Immaculate Conception on Friday December 8, 2017 with procession and Holy Mass to be celebrated by His Grace,
