Enugu—The Director General of Voice of Nigeria, VON, Osita Okechukwu, has assured Nigerians that President Muhammadu Buhari will not disappoint Nigerians in the dispute between the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kackikwu, and the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Group Managing Director, Dr. Maikanti Baru.
Dr. Kachikwu had petitioned Buhari over alleged insubordination by Dr. Baru, saying the GMD awarded contracts amounting to over $23 billion without the knowledge of the NNPC board or himself.
Reacting to the issue in an interview with newsmen in Enugu, Okechukwu said: “Spare me. I am not the spokes-man of Mr President.
“But as his follower, President Buhari will not disappoint. He will do the needful and will not allow anyone to dent his image or tarnish his integrity.
“If the allegations are valid, he will not allow the political capital upon which we followed him and upon which Nigerians voted for him and upon which the international community endorsed him to be dented.”
He noted that Buhari’s urgent meeting with Kachikwu had vindicated some of those who believed that the Minister’s letter did not get to the President.
