Ubima community, home town of the Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, in Ikwerre local government area of Rivers state has advised two oil companies trying to resume operations in the area to endeavour to meet leaders of the area, saying that any backdoor arrangement could provoke untold crisis in the community.

President, Patriotic Body of Ubima, PBU, Mr Igwe Chimankpa gave the advise in Port Harcourt, adding that there was already tension in the community over the companies, Allgrace Energy limited and Elland Oil and Gas
He said allegations were rife that some representatives of the companies were already meeting secretly with persons in the community, adding that such move could trigger a major crisis He further enjoined the Rivers state government to urgently step in to avert breakdown of law and order in the area.
‘’The companies have refused to do the needful. They have refused to make their visit and meetings public. They handpicked some people from the community.
‘’ We are supposed to know if the companies met the state government standard for EIA (environmental impact assessment) for our good health wise.
‘’If any, let them be tendered for public view and let’s deliberate on them all and know our entitlement before further operations by the companies’’.
