The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 5 Headquarters, Benin City, Edo State, Mr Abubakar Mohammed, has reaffirmed the commitment of the zone towards reduction of crime and criminality throughout the ember months.
A statement, weekend, by Mr Emeka Iheanacho, Zonal Public Relations Officer, said: “He reminded the general public especially, the people of Edo, Delta and Bayelsa States, that this is the season of ember months where men of the underworld and criminal elements in desperation for get-rich-quick syndrome indulge in several criminal activities and advised members of the public to be security conscious and vigilant at all times.
“On the current security situation in some parts of the zone, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police assured the public that the zone is working assiduously to bring the situation under control. He further enjoined members of the public and good spirited individuals to co-operate with the Police and other security agencies by providing useful information that can lead to the arrest of criminals and enhance the performance of our constitutional duties.”
“He uses this medium to warn criminals to steer clear from the zone or be made to face the wrath of the law.
“Finally, members of the public are advised to go about their lawful businesses without fear as adequate security strategies have been put in place to guarantee security of lives and property,” the statement added.
