Super Eagles coach, Salisu Yusuf has said that his team’s poor run at the West Africa Football Union Cup of Nations was down to poor preparation of the team.

A 3-0 bright start with Sierra Leone was followed up with two barren draws against Mali and Guinea before their last group A game against Ghana last night. And coach Yusuf says their underwhelming performances in the competition was as a result of poor preparations.

“We never camped nor trained together prior to the tournament because of how congested the program line-up was, so the lack of adequate preparation has really affected the team,” Yusuf told reporters, stressing, “But the players have shown great character to be able to play up to this level and they are doing well.”
