The Korean Cultural Centre in Nigeria said it established K-POP Dance Academy in Nigeria to acquaint Nigerians with knowledge and skills of the Korean entertainment industry.

The Director, Korean Cultural Centre in Nigeria, Mr. Han Sungrae explained that a lot of opportunities were abandoned in the Korean creative industry that need to be tapped into by Africans particularly Nigerians.

Han, who stated this in an interview with Potpourri shortly after the maiden graduation ceremony of the K-POP Dance Academy which held in Abuja, said it would assist them to compete with their counterparts in the Asian continent and the world.

20 Nigerians (male and female) graduated from the academic calendar which lasted for six weeks tagged; “Pyeonchang Winter Olympic Games”. During the programme,  two K-Pop experts from Korea trained students on different K-Pop-dance basics and routines.

KCC Director maintained that the academy “served to also promote awareness for the winter games slated for next year.

“This Olympic Winter Games will be held in Korea for the first time in 30 years after the Seoul Olympic Games in 1988. Pyeongchang will be the stage for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies and most snow sports.
