Nollywood actress and Senior Special Assistant to the Kogi State governor,SSA, on entertainment, arts and culture, Mercy Johnson-Okojie is a woman with a big heart. In order to give back to the state that made her what she is today, the actress is organizing a talent hunt show for the youths in Kogi, saying the project is something that is close to her heart.
The GYB Talent Hunt, according to Mercy Johnson, is aimed at discovering talented actors and actresses across Kogi State. A laudable project that would help launch their careers in mainstream Nigerian movie industry.
In a post on her Instagram page, the mother of three explained why she’s embarking on this project.
“This is my way of giving back to the state that made me who I am. I have been incredibly blessed to have played my little part in the revolution that is Nollywood, it is now time that my brothers and sisters in Kogi state get the same opportunity,”she wrote.
The search will begin on August 17, at the Civic Center in Okehi, Kogi and continue on August 18 at the Idah Local Government hall, Idah of the state. On August 19, it would be done at the Theatre Arts Hall, Kogi State University, Ayingba. The search will climax at Riverton hotel, on the 21st of August, 2017.
According to Mercy Johnson, the winners of the show will act alongside herself and other top Nollywood actors in a movie. She named actress, Bimbo Akintola, actor Francis Duru and director, Frank Rajah as judges.
