THE Independent Democrats, ID, is planning to field a female governorship candidate to spice the November 18 election.
Going by what the state chairman of the party, Mr. Ikechukwu Okafor said, ID decided on a woman carrying the party’s flag at the election to attract women and youths who are the majority of the voters in any election.
Okafor said: “The targets of our party are women and youths; and as I am speaking to you, a lady and a youth of about 36 years each have shown interest to contest the governorship election on the platform of our party.
“We want to give the youths and the women the opportunity to be relevant in the scheme of things. We are ready to win the election, and we are not concerned about any threat by any group of agitators. The police should do their work and ensure that a peaceful election is held in the state.”
He debunked the insinuation that ID has a special arrangement with APC, insisting that his party was not in alliance with any party.
