Police arrest armed robbery suspect in Bayelsa

YENAGOA – THE police in Bayelsa State Sunday confirmed the arrest of an armed robbery suspect at the Azikoro suburb of Yenagoa, the state capital.

Spokesman of the state police command, Mr. Asinim Butswat, DSP, said the suspect, identified as James Loveday, aged 20, was apprehended weekend.

According to him, the suspects was arrested by plain cloth operatives of the command.

His words, “on 21 July, 2017, at about 1425 hours, Policemen responded to a distress call by a staff of Community Secondary School, Azikoro, Yenagoa, that some boys were gathered around the school premises in a suspicious manner.

“Consequently, plain cloth policemen were dispatched to the scene and arrested one James Loveday ‘m’ 20 years of Bakery Road Azikoro and recovered a locally made cut to size revolver pistol from him.

“The suspect has volunteered useful information while efforts have been intensified to arrest his cohorts. Investigation is on going.”
