Mother, son in police net for hacking brother to death

ENUGU—THE Police in Enugu State Command have arrested a man, Mr Roma Asogwa, for allegedly killing his brother, Mr Fidelis Asogwa, over a piece of land.

The suspect, who is from Ohio town in Igbo Etiti Local Government Area of the state was, Monday, arrested with his mother for allegedly killing his brother.

According to a statement by Police Public Relations Officer,  Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, a misunderstanding ensued between Fidelis Asogwa, the deceased, and Roma Asogwa, the suspect, over a piece of land and an economic tree.

It was gathered that  in the course of the quarrel, Roma Asogwa hit his brother on the head with a plank, which left him unconscious. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was confirmed dead.

Amarizu noted that the suspect was arrested with his mother, identified as Theresa Asogwa, who is said to have invited the deceased from Port Harcourt for a meeting, which claimed his life.

Both suspects are now helping the police in their investigation just as the deceased’s body has been deposited in Zimuzo Hospital Mortuary, Ohodo.

In a related development,the state command of the Nigeria Police   force have commenced a full scale investigation into the alleged murder of two persons at Adaba in Uzouwani local government Area of Enugu state   .The alleged incident   is said to have occurred on July 17, 2017 at Adaba community where the   two corpses were seen dumped at the roadside by yet to be known person/persons.
