Uyo—GOVE-RNOR Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has procured sophisticated medical equipment worth millions of naira for Etinan General Hospital and Immanuel General Hospital, Eket, as part of efforts by his administration to boost healthcare delivery in the state.
Some of the medical equipments include Electro-Cardiogram machines, ECG, Ultra-sound machines, Spot vital signs devices and electric beds Hoyer lift, Baby warmer, radiant warmer, Fetal anatomy scanners and surgical equipment as well as consumables among others.
Special Assistant to the governor on Research and Documentation, Mr. Emmanuel Nicholas led a fact-finding team to the two general hospitals at Etinan and Eket Local Government Areas of the state.
At Etinan General Hospital, the Chief Nursing Superintendent, Mr. Moses Akpan expressed appreciation to the state government, saying that the sophisticated equipment has the capacity to accommodate patients within and outside Akwa Ibom State.
He added: “These health gadgets and equipment will bring success stories because most of the high profile surgeries and ailments that patients travel abroad for therapy would now be performed here in this hospital Indeed, we are grateful.”
Similarly, Secretary of the hospital, Mrs. Benedict Uyio, who conducted the team around the various departments and units, commended the current government for restoring the lost glory of the hospital with the upgraded the equipments and massive renovation of blocks and laboratories.
At the Immanuel General Hospital, Eket, Chief Medical Director, Dr Michael Ukpe, noted that the long-standing health facility was at a point of complete collapse before the intervention of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
