OLEH—THE regent of Irri Kingdom, Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta State, HRM Michael Oviese, has been shot by yet-to-be identified gunmen.

Vanguard gathered that the monarch was attacked around St. Michael’s College, Oleh, over the weekend, by hoodlums, who had attempted to dispossess him of his car.

A dependable source said the monarch had driven to a building alone and was discussing with some persons, when five hoodlums stormed a nearby shop and deman-ded for bottled water.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: “When the robbers asked for the water, the owner of the shop said there was no water and the boys started shooting sporadically into the air. The hoodlums then went to where the king was and demanded for his car keys.

“The king then threw the keys away and started running. In the process, the boys shot him on his waist and fled the area. The king has been rushed to the hospital and he is presently receiving treatment.”

Contacted, Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Mr. Andrew Aniamaka, confirmed the incident, saying “we are on trail of the suspects.”
