Two brothers, Murtala Nuhu, 45 and Yusuf Nuhu, 25, were on Wednesday docked before a Sokoto Magistrates’ Court for allegedly assaulting a motorist and causing him grievous bodily harm.
The accused, both residents of Binanchi area of Sokoto, are facing a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, assault, causing hurt and mischief.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Samaila Justine, told the court that the accused on Jan 24, conspired and criminally attacked one Rufai Muazu of Magajin Gari Area of Sokoto, while he was inside his vehicle.
According to the prosecutor, the complainant sustained an injury on his left hand and lost N70, 000 from his pocket during the assault.
Justine also said that the two accused deliberately used their hands and smashed the windscreen of Muazu’s car. The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened to Sections 97, 266, 244 and 327 of the Penal Code Law of Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
The prosecutor further told the court that the victim was ready to settle out of court but he did not appear before the court to inform the magistrate.
The Magistrate, Mr Abubakar Adamu, adjourned the case to Feb. 27 for further mention.
