ILORIN—Tragedy struck, Monday evening, in Fulani settlement, Ayedun community in Oke-Ero Local Government Area of Kwara State, when two children were burnt to death.
The fire that killed the children, aged three and five, started while they were trying to roast a tuber of yam in a thatched hut, where they resided.
Vanguard gathered from a source in the community that the hut was being used as kitchen.
It was learned that the guardian of the victims, who has just been discharged from the hospital, was sleeping in another hut when the incident occurred.
A police team was said to have visited the scene and evacuated the corpses.
Vanguard also gathered that the corpses had since been released to the family of the deceased for burial.
