UMUAHIA—POLITICAL leaders and stakeholders from the three Ngwa Local Government  areas of Abia Central Senatorial district have expressed anger over the recent impeachment of Chief Martins Azubuike as the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, warning they should not be pushed to the wall.

Both the impeached speaker, Azubuike, the one-day Speaker Kennedy Njoku and new Speaker, Chikwendu Kalu are from the district. The three councils are Isiala Ngwa North, Isiala Ngwa South and Osisioma Ngwa.

Speaking one after the other at a reception held under the aegis of Umunneato, meaning three brothers, they condemned the impeachment and lashed out at lawmakers from the area that backed the impeachment.

They specifically warned the ruling PDP in the state not to toy with them especially the zoning formula, warning of dire  consequences for the impeachment of Azubuike.

One of the speakers, Chairman of Isiala Ngwa North council, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe described the impeachment of the former speaker as an “injustice” to them, but said that they chose to remain calm because “we fought hard for the present government and we cannot destroy the house we jointly built.”

But one of the political leaders from the area, Dr Gershon Amuta was very specific that the people of the zone were bitter over the impeachment of the former Speaker and warned ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to be ready to pay the political price of the impeachment could throw up.

“Nobody can say that we are not angry though we won’t block the road but we must warn that nobody should pull the tiger by the tail”, he clared.
