LAGOS—MARITIME Workers Union of Nigeria, MWUN, has decried the deplorable state of access roads to the nation’s seaports, especially the Apapa and Tin Can ports, saying the roads have become not only deathtraps, but also expressways to mortuaries.
President-General of MWUN, Mr. Nted Emmanuel, who spoke at the union’s National Executive Council Meeting and Special Delegates Conference in Lagos, yesterday, contended that the union had written several letters to the management of Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, and the government to no avail.
In his remarks, Director General, Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Mr. Dakuku Peterside, said the agency had approved the training of 1,200 seafarers.
