ABUJA—A group, Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières), MSF, has reported a decreasing trend in severe malnutrition among Internally Displaced Children, IDCs, in Borno, State, following intervention programmes implemented in various parts of the state to arrest the situation.

A November report from MSF, which provides information on the emergency situation in Borno State shows that at the beginning of September 2016, the rate of severe acute malnutrition, SAM, which stood above the five per cent threshold was recorded among children below age five.

However, the intervention programmes put in place to check the emergency resulted in a rapid stabilization of the situation in 10 weeks.

The programmes consisted mainly of adequate food distribution and regular provision of medical aid.
