Owerri – Governors from the Southeast, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and his counterpart Governor Okezuo Ikpeazu of Abia State, have declared that the oil producing States in the country should be given adequate attention.
They made their position known in Owerri, during the Niger Delta Development Forum, NDDF, powered by the Partnership Initiative for Niger Delta ,PIND.
While Governor Rochas Okorocha, who was represented by his Deputy, Eze Madumere, said that the region was in dire need of assistance.
He also said, ” The Imo State government is ready to collaborate with the Niger Delta Development Forum, in the area of electricity and other infrastructure development. We also believe this forum will brainstorm seriously on the issue of security, conflict resolution, religion and climate change.”
His counterpart, Governor Okezuo Ikpeazu of Abia State, represented by Mr Sam Hart, Senior Special Adviser on Public Communication , said that they came to the event in search of investors.
“We are in this event to search for investors, we are ready to partner with people who know more than us because we want to develop our State” he said.
While, the Executive Director of the Partnership Initiative for Niger Delta, PIND, Sam Daibo, said that ” PIND is interested in economic development, peace building ,capacity building analysis and advocacy in the 9 states that make up the oil producing states of Nigeria.”
