Nokia makes case for Smart Cities in Nigeria

Smart devices are a dime a dozen, but to truly enjoy the benefits of a tech ecosystem-smart schools, smart waste, smart hospitals, smart government and the likes-building a Smart city is the name of the game.

It’s a game that leading technology company, Nokia sold enthusiastically to telecom operators, government departments, enterprises, and business partners at the Nokia World Congress Revisited Road show held in Lagos recently.

Nokia believes that the solutions presented at the road chow will help build smart cities with Internet of Things (IoT) and critical-communications network for public safety while ensuring a world-class mobile broadband experience for Nigerians.

Head of Marketing and Communications at Nokia, Mr Joachim Wuilmert told Glamtech: “We want to use technology to help people live better lives through the introduction of Internet of things (IoT) and Smart cities. Nokia is introducing Smart Cities into the global market in other to fuse the ecosystem together. We know that there is some technology that operators can drive and operate by themselves but building smart cities is a much smarter initiative”

Managing Director, Nokia Nigeria said: “With every level of broadband penetration, there is a direct impact on the Gross Domestic Profit, GDP of the country. “This is why Nokia is partnering with major operators  to ensure that we provide solutions.”
