Onuesoke
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Chief Sunny Onuesoke, has described the crisis presently rocking Delta State All Progressive Congress (APC) as a blessing for the PDP to retain its winning streak in the state.
Onuesoke spoke in Warri, Delta, against the backdrop of the appointment of the Minister of State (Petroleum), Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Engr. Babachir Lawal, to take charge of APC in Delta after flaying the national leadership of the party for not being able to resolve the crisis in the party.
Delta APC had been plagued with leadership crisis between the factions of Chief Spanner Okpozo and Chief Emerhor O’tega which led to the closure of the party’s secretariat in Asaba, Delta State.
Describing Delta APC as a dumping ground for defectors from different political parties, Onuesoke recalled that he knew from the onset that the party was bound to run into trouble because it is composed of people with different ideologies who lost favour with their original parties and decided to seek refuge in the APC.
“In such situation, there is bound to be crisis and division within the party. How do we expect people who cannot organize a party peacefully to rule Delta that is a semi-Nigeria? The crisis in the party is a signal to the people of Delta that should they win the state, they would have turned it into a battle ground. My joy about it is that PDP in the state is getting more united, stronger and focus, while APC is getting disorganized daily”, Onuesoke said.
While appealing to aggrieved members of APC to summon courage and join PDP which he described as the winning party in the state, Onuesoke enjoined the people of Delta to support the government of Ifeanyi Okowa, adding that the people are already feeling the impact of Okowa’s achievements in the state.
