Dutse—Special Adviser to the Director-General of the National Hydrological Services Agency, Engineer Umar Magashi, said yesterday in Dutse that over 100 local governments areas in states across the country were affected by flood this year, including Jigawa State.

Engineer Magashi, who stated this during a one-day sensitisation workshop organised by the agency in Dutse, said cases of flood should not be left to government alone.

Governor Mohammed Abubakar, who was represented by his Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Ibrahim Giwa, said hundreds of people lost their houses, farmlands and properties worth millions of Naira, adding that some lives were also lost to flood.
