Dogara and Jibrin
A coalition of youth bodies under the aegis of The Youth Awake Movement (TYAM) after its quarterly briefing has warned Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin to desist from the wanton attacks embarked on to discredit the image of the legislature in the country.
In a statement released by the National Coordinator on Wednesday in Lagos, Mr Bamidele Azeez, the group urged him to accept responsibility for the issues surrounding the budget.
“According to our investigation, allegations by Jibrin doesn’t hold water and application of common sense. Blowing the whistle after his removal is a clear sign of propaganda to discredit the long earned image of the Speaker, Rt Hon. Yakubu Dogara and the image of the legislative arm of government in Nigeria”
“Provided history serves as a guide for the future, Nigerians should recollect that his version of the budget was rejected by the President, which prompted the House to set up another committee headed by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Yusuf Lasun”
Commenting on the time of his removal, the group blamed the Speaker for not acting earlier enough to exercise his constitutional power, alluding to the fact that the rejection of the budget by President Buhari is a clear show of incompetence on the path of the former chairman House committee on Appropriation.
The group disclosed that the legislature is the heartbeat of democracy and cheered Nigerians to see his agitation as an act of personal struggle, show of strength with the leadership of the green chamber and self aggrandizement.
Bamidele enthused further by telling Nigerians that his rate of double speak is alarming and unsurpassed, urging “the security agencies and anti-corruption bodies to do needful in engaging in a thorough scrutiny of his petitions, if not his personal agenda can heat up the polity which is likely to lead to a face off between the executive and legislature”.
