Total E&P worries over attacks on facilities

PORT HARCOURT—Total E and P Nigeria Limited, has expressed worries over attacks on its  facilities in Rivers State.

The oil multinational company complained that its facilities were being vandalized daily by unidentified persons.

Total disclosed this, yesterday, in Port Harcourt, during a stakeholders’ meeting with offshore communities in the state, adding that the company’s facilities were damaged daily.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Managing Director of Total E and P, Port Harcourt District, Mr. Nicolas Brunet, said that the level of attacks on its facilities was affecting negatively the operations of the company in the area.

Brunet who spoke through the Advisor, Community Affairs and Development, Mr. Charles-Edward Anfray, noted that insecurity was affecting communities in the state negatively.

He added that the wellheads, pipelines hydrocarbons were being vandalized by yet to be known individuals in the area.

“Each one of us is affected in one way or the other with the unsavoury consequences of these acts within our communities. For us in Total, we feel the painful impact on daily basis. Our facilities are daily vandalized,” he said.
