Akure—THE Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was, over the weekend, declared winner of the local government area elections by the Ondo state Independent Electoral Commission, winning all the 18 council seats.
The newly-elected chairmen and councillors would be sworn in today by the state governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko in Akure.
However, the ruling party lost the councillorship position of ward 9, Oba -Ile in Akure North area of the state to the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) candidate.
Announcing the results of the election conducted on Saturday, the Chairman of the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC), Professor Olugbenga Ige said 14 political parties participated in the election.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has kicked against the results of the election.
The party, through its Director of Publicity, Steve Otaloro said the results of the election clearly vindicated the party’s position on the election.
