Comrade Esele
By Gabriel Enogholase
BENIN—AHEAD of Edo State’s governorship election slated for September 10, former President of Trade Union Congress, TUC, and governorship aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, Peter Esele, has unveiled a three-point agenda he hopes to pursue if elected governor of the state.
Esele, who unveiled his agenda while speaking with some APC faithful who visited him at his country home in Ohordua, Esan South-East Local Government Area of the state, listed agriculture, promotion of culture and investment in education as his areas of priority.
He insisted that he wants to be a leader who will show the people how to stand on their own and urged the people to follow him if they believe he could change their lives and not because he hails from Edo Central senatorial district.
According to him, “The kind of leader I want to be is one who is a pathfinder. I will make life easy for our people. I want to show you how you can stand on your own. What we have is a group of people gathering money for their personal interests.
“I am not contesting because I am an Esan man. I believe we are all one. Follow me if you believe I can take you to the next level.”
In his contribution, Deputy Publicity Secretary of APC, Jolly Ilegbinosa, said that the integrity group within the APC had vowed to support an aspirant that can deliver democracy dividends for the people.
He said he decided to support Esele because of his performance as the president of TUC.
Spokesman for the Esan Youth Movement, Solomon Okoduwa, said they believe Esele was the right person to take over from Governor Adams Oshiomhole.
