Babalola varsity: Case adjourned, students remain in custody

The trial of the 17 students of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, involved in the violent protest that rocked the institution on Sunday night was, yesterday, adjourned till tomorrow for further hearing by an Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrate’s Court.

Adegboye, who had, Tuesday, ordered the students remanded in police custody till yesterday, granted them N300,000 bail and one surety in like sum each.

Yesterday, he ordered them remanded in prison custody till the outcome of the advice from the office of the state Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, over the fresh charges preferred against the students.

The plea of the accused were not taken as their counsel, Mr. Peter Ogunkile, Chris Omokhafe and eight others, sought for a date of adjournment pending the advice of the DPP office.
