An Egyptian court on Tuesday upheld a death sentence against ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi for plotting jailbreaks and attacks on police during the country’s 2011 uprising.

The board of the Nobel Peace Centre said on Monday it wished to end its formal cooperation with football’s scandal-plagued ruling body FIFA over the “Handshake for Peace” programme. Pakistan Tuesday hanged seven prisoners, bringing the total number put to death since executions resumed last December to 160, officials said. A Kaduna-based Islamic Scholar, Sheik Sambo Rigachikun, on Tuesday appealed to traders in the country not to increase the price of food items during the Muslim fasting period of Ramadan. Rigachikum made the appeal in an interview withnewsmen in Kaduna.
