The United Nations said it was “deeply disturbed” by the death sentences handed down in Libya on Wednesday against a son and eight aides of slain dictator Moamer Kadhafi. “We had closely monitored the detention and trial and found that international fair trial standards had failed to be met,” the UN’s High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) said in a statement.

THERE was drama Tuesday in the Senate during resumed plenary as 35 Senators elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC and 46 Senators elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP yesterday passed a vote of confidence on the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and the entire leadership of the Senate.

Making the announcement, President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, also announced the appointment of Sen. Emmanuel Bwacha (PDP Taraba South) as Deputy Minority Leader.
