The Niger Deltan Progressives League, a political pressure group campaigning for change in the region, has accused the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, of surreptitiously seeking to hoodwink the All Progressives Congress, APC, into believing there is need for a government of national unity in the incoming administration of President-Elect, General Muhammadu Buhari.

ABEOKUTA—The Olowo of Owo in Yewa South local government,area of Ogun state, Oba Patrick Fasinu has refuted the allegation that he was planning to assassinate a princes from another ruling house. The monarch was accused of planning to execute Prince Segun Rufai, the prince of late Oba Babatunde Alao who was one for the founding fathers of the Owo community in the state.

OSOGBO—Resident doctors at Ladoke Akintola University, Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, yesterday staged a peaceful protest at the premises of State Assembly, Gbongan Road, Osogbo against non-payment of their six months salary by Osun state government. The protesting doctors, who told journalists that living had become difficult in the last six months owing to the situation, carried placards with different inscriptions, demanding immediate payment of their salaries and for duration of the protest, prevented vehicular movement in and out of the assembly complex.

ABEOKUTA—The dreaded Yoruba-farmers’ group, the Agbekoya has declared that the role played by the pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere and the the Odua Peoples Congress, OPC, in the just-concluded general elections has made them lose credibility in Yorubaland. The Secretary of the Agbekoya, Dr. Ade Ogunlana in a statement he jointly signed with the Ambassador of the society, Chief Ajibola Salau said the role played by the two Yoruba groups during the polls left much to be desired.
