Rivers State Government has reassured National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, members serving in the state of its commitment to their security and welfare.
The state government gave the assurance at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Nonwa Gbam-Tai, Tai Local Government Area of the state, during the swearing-in of over 2,591 2015 Batch B, (Stream II) corps members deployed to the state.
Addressing the corps members, Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Mr. Kenneth Kobani, said the state government was ready to ensure the security of corps members serving in the state.
Kobani added that the government would give more attention to the welfare of the corps members, to ameliorate their suffering.
He urged them to ensure the successful completion of their service year, stressing that the state government would provide them all the needed support in that regard.
Kobani also admonished the NYSC members to overcome every political challenge that they may be confronted with in the state.
He said: “The Rivers State Government will help in every possible way to make your service year a success. Your security and welfare are guaranteed. Try to overcome political and other challenges you may be confronted with in the state. Do not allow anybody to use you and destroy you during your service year, rather use the service year as a mark of honour to our fatherland.”
