By Olasunkanmi Akoni

Lagos State government has impounded over 15 vehicles and seized thousands of goods from traders found displaying their wares on the walkways. The Central Business Districts, CBD Taskforce, led by the Special Adviser to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on CBD, Mr. Agboola Dabiri, raided the entire area.

The task force consists of operatives of Kick Against Indiscpline, KAI, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, Police and CBD. Some of the areas raided include Oke-Olowogbowo, Ebutte-Ero Market, Broad Street, Idumagbo Avenue, Idumota among others.

Dabiri attributed the activities of the traders and the motorists as the major cause of the gridlock often experienced on Lagos Island CBD. “We noticed that a lot of traders carry out their businesses on the walkway,” he said.
