I regret joining APC without Gov Ugwuanyi – Dogara

BY FRANCIS IGATA
ENUGU – The Speaker,House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, yesterday, lamented that he joined the All Progressives Congress, APC, without dragging Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State along with him.

Dogara who spoke with nostalgia at the grand reception organized by Senator Chuka Utazi representing Enugu-North senatorial district on behalf of Nsukka Cultural zone at the Government Field Nsukka, revealed that Ugwuanyi’s pedigree as a ‘Progressive’ while at the House Representative will serve as a tonic that will boost governance in Enugu State.

This is even as Senator Utazi noted that destiny has beckoned on Ugwuanyi at this time to shoulder the heavy responsibilities of leadership in Enugu State.

According to the Speaker,”For us in the House of Representatives, the governor is our Ambassador. The fact that am here today attests to the kind of leadership Ugwuanyi provided during his stay at the National Assembly. I have no doubt that Ugwuanyi’s pedigree will be brought to bare in Enugu State.

“I will hold him (Ugwuanyi) accountable if he does not bring those developmental goals we discussed to Enugu State. He was a Progressive mind at the House of Representatives. One of my regrets is that I did not cross over to APC with him.”

In his address, Senator Utazi noted that,”We are confident that the governor’s pedigree and inscrutable focus shall move our people many years ahead. You are carrying the aggregate of the hopes of a people. We know you will be a leading light of this generation in terms of the quality of leadership you would demonstrate.”

While addressing the mammoth crowd that thronged the venue to witness the conferment of chieftaincy title on him, Governor Ugwuanyi urged the people to remain steadfast in their prayers and support his administration to achieve more for the people.

Dignitaries who graced the events include: Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu; Governor Ibrahim Dankwanbo of Gombe State; former Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State; former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim; Chief Authur Eze; Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh; former Minister of Information, Chief Nnaia Nwodo among others.
