GENERAL Secretary of the Bible Society of Nigeria, BSN, Rev. Dare Ajiboye, has declared that current multi-dimensional challenges plaguing the nation, can only be eradicated through living biblical principles and standards, reports OLAYINKA LATONA.
Addressing newsmen at All Saints Anglican Church, Oshodi, Lagos to flag off the annual BSN Marathon Bible Reading programme, Ajiboye noted that the vices in the country revolve around unrighteousness and ungodliness and that the solutions given by God are embedded in the Scriptures.
He said: “Imagine what will happen if Nigerians read their Bible daily, imbibe biblical virtues and live according to the will of God; no doubt, God will be pleased with us because righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach to any people.
“Nigerians are the most religious people in the world but the challenge is that our actions are against the Word of God. There are Christians who can effectively quote the scripture more than the pastors but they do not act in accordance with the Word of God that they read.
“My message to Nigerians, especially Christians, is that they should read the Bible, live according to the dictates of the Bible and I can assure you the Bible keeps one away from sin and Nigeria will be transformed,” he noted.
On the marathon Bible reading, Ajiboye explained that the programme was designed to help people interact with the Bible and give participants opportunity to read Bible aloud in any language of their choice uninterrupted for a period of five days.
According to him, the organisation is responsible for translation, printing and distribution of the Bible into various Nigerian language, making it available and affordable for members of the public, adding that translating the bible to another language costs N40 million if completed within 12 years.
