Ebonyi contracts 14 firms for refuse evacuation

ABAKALIKI—EBONYI State government said it has contracted 14 firms to oversee evacuation of waste materials.

The State Commissioner for Environment, Chief Moses Nomeh stated this in Abakaliki while briefing newsmen on some of the innovations taking place in the Ministry.

According to him, the specifications of the contract involves sweeping of roads within the city, clearing of grasses and evacuation of refuse dumps within the state capital and its environs.

The contract is to cost the state a whooping sum of N336 million annually and N28 million monthly as the allocation of the funds to the contracted firms would be based on the terms of the contract awarded.

The Commissioner warned that any of them who failed to brace up by taking the contract seriously will lose it.

He said the installation of the refuse impulverization plants procured by the state would commence second week in October as it would be put to use before the end of November.
