The Screening Committee which looked into the qualifications of the 28 aspirants who picked the nomination forms to contest on the platform of the APC has released its result, clearing all the aspirants to slug it out for the ticket of the party on August 29, 2015 at the Lokoja Township Stadium.
Speaking to Vanguard after receiving his certificate of clearance in Abuja, Monday, frontline aspirant, Alh. Yahaya Bello said the excellent remarks on his certificate testify to his qualifications and readiness to serve the people of Kogi State.
According to the Agassa Okene-born business mogul, the task of rebuilding Kogi State will continue to dominate his campaign.
In his words: “Our determination to lead Kogi through a New Direction is non-negotiable and my efforts and those of my campaign team shall be geared towards rediscovering Kogi State and making her the centre of Nigerian commerce”, he said.
Another aspirants who spoke to our reporters, Sani Shaibu said he is ready to lead Kogi State to the next level. He said there is need for all Kogites to pull in one direction in order to achieve the aim of building a new Kogi State.
Other aspirants who scaled through the screening exercise are Chief Tim Nda Diche, Prince Abubakar Audu, Senator Nicholas Ugbane, SEN. Nurudeen Abatemi and others.
However, the ruling All Progressives Congress has remained confident of winning Kogi State in the upcoming governorship election.
Speaking to Vanguard in a telephone chat after the release of the screening results, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Alh. Lai Mohammed said the party is ready for the Kogi Poll.
In his words: ” We see the Kogi governorship election as a platform to offer the people of the state a credible alternative. The reports we are getting from the state is encouraging and we hope to build on the momentum to achieve success”, he said
