Bauchi—The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC in Bauchi State has appealed to the state government to pay workers salary before the commencement of the Ramadan fasting.
The state Chairman of the union, Hasimu Gital, yesterday in an interview in Bauchi, expressed concern over the non-payment of workers salary for three months, saying that the development has caused hardship to the workers.
He said: “We are appealing to the state government to pay workers salary before the commencement of the Ramadan to ease their burdens. Workers are supposed to be paid their salary before the month end, but when the reverse is the case, it affects their input to work.
“However, the state government has assured workers in the state that it will pay salary for the month of May. It has also concluded plans to pay June salary when it receives allocation from the Federation Account”
Gital pleaded with workers to exercise patience, saying government was committed to addressing the plight of workers in the state.
