The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, conducted the presidential, National Assembly, governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections across the country on Saturday, March 28 and April 11, 2015 respectively. Winners have emerged and they have promised not to renege on their earlier campaign promises to Nigerians.
Muhammudu Buhari: President-elect – You voted for change, now change has come
A new day and a new Nigeria are upon us. The victory is yours, and the glory is that of our nation.
Your vote affirms that you believe Nigeria’s future can be better than what it is today. You voted for change, and now change has come.
Akinwumi Ambode:
Lagos State (APC)
I am humbled that you have placed your trust and faith in me. The love of this state and our common belief in what we can accomplish, our belief in what this state already is, and in what it is destined to become binds us together in a social and moral contract of high purpose. I shall honour that contract with every fiber of my being. This day, I pledge to you that I shall devote myself to bringing even greater prosperity, growth and development to every inch of this state. I also pledge that I shall build on legacy and progress of my predecessors.
The people of Lagos have demonstrated that Lagos is not about ethnicity or religion but about a common desire to enthrone good governance.
Lagos, under my watch, will not discriminate. It has not in the past, and will not in the present; not even in the future. There will be no political victimisation.
By affirming your faith in the APC and in me, you have, for the first time in 60 years, married progressive governance at the national level with progressive government at the state level.
Ibikunle Amosun:
Ogun State (APC)

The policies, programmes and projects of our administration in the next four years shall continue to be for the benefit of all. Indeed, we shall pursue with more vigour, determination, honesty of purpose and courage, our five cardinal programmes as contained in our administration’s Mission to Rebuild Ogun State.
We shall build on the foundation we had earlier laid to make our state one of the most modern and one with the highest standard of living in our country. The focus of our administration will continue to ensure better service delivery to our people. This, I believe, is why you emphatically voted for continuity during the elections.
However, for us to continue to achieve development for our people, we need all hands on deck. We therefore invite all the good people of Ogun State to continue to join this progressive team that will further solidify development, progress, security and peace in our state.
Nasir el-Rufai:
Kaduna State (APC)
Of course the goodness might take some time – maybe a few months or years. But when you look at the damage done to the country over the last 16 years, it will take some time to undo that damage.
If you look at the activists on social media, many of them need to translate their online following to electoral value,” he says, convinced of the impact of the Facebook and Twitter generation. We have to find a way to get our young people more involved.
We have to make Kaduna what it used to be and make Nigeria what it used to be for everyone.
Abdulfatah Ahmed:
Kwara State (APC)
Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed has called on Kwarans irrespective of their ethnic nationalities, religious and political affiliations to join hands with him in moving the state forward.
The governor, who dedicated his victory to the APC, thanked all Kwarans, including non-indigenes, for entrusting him with another four years to serve them, promising to justify the confidence reposed in him by delivering on his campaign promises.
The governor said the time for politicking had gone, noting that governance was a collective responsibility of everyone where inputs were expected to come in from different quarters for the benefit of the people.
Nyesom Wike:
Rivers (PDP)
I will to the best of my ability and with the fear of God develop a new Rivers State where opportunities for growth will be open to everyone resident in the state. Under my leadership, we shall all form a common front to ensure development for all communities.
We will not persecute anyone. But we shall remain focused on the urgent needs of development across the state and the need to empower the vast majority of our people. We will run a transparent administration that will be fully accountable to the people, ensuring that Rivers people get value for their resources.
Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi:
Enugu (PDP)
I renew the message of peace, hope and development of our dear state and the principles of seamless continuity and consolidation.
I reaffirm my commitment to seeing through the legacy of the present four-point agenda and once again commit to all our campaign promises in the 17 local government areas of the state.
From the 17 local government areas, the people spoke eloquently with their votes and entrusted on me the responsibility of rendering selfless service to our dear state.
I am deeply humbled by that mandate reposed in me and I hereby accept it with all sense of humility and gratitude.
Aminu Masari:
Katsina (APC)
Speaking shortly after he was declared winner, Masari lauded voters in the state assuring that he would justify the confidence reposed in him.
Masari also extended hands of friendship to all those that contested along with him noting that his doors are wide opened for suggestions.
He pledged to transform Katsina in the next six months assuring that the people of Katsina state will see the change they so desire.
Samuel Ortom:
Benue (APC)
My election as Governor on the platform of the APC at the state level has come with similar expectations and also thrust upon my shoulders and those of my Deputy, Engr Benson Abounu, onerous responsibilities to justify the confidence reposed in our party by Nigerians in general and the Benue electorate in particular.
The challenges of the day require the contribution of all hence I hereby extend my hand of fellowship to all Benue citizens especially those who contested with or against us as we believe they have genuine aspirations for the people and request that they join us with such ideas.
Let me reiterate my pledge to govern with the fear of God which would entrench core values including transparency, accountability, fairness, justice, humility, integrity, truthfulness, selflessness, integration, forgiveness, reconciliation, peace and unity which shall make development inevitable.
Aminu Tambuwal:
Sokoto (APC)
Myself and the Deputy Governor-Elect are truly humbled by your sustained show of support, trust and confidence in the face of orchestrated provocations and attempts to subvert the will of the people, we remain grateful for honouring us with your mandate. This is a responsibility that we do not take lightly, and we will endeavour to continue to provide good governance in Sokoto State with utmost transparency and fairness.
We make a solemn pledge to you today that this government shall be fair to one and all, and shall at all times work hard to meet the yearnings of our people for responsive and responsible governance.
As the outgoing Speaker of the House of Representatives, I understand the expectations of my immediate Constituency and the wider national political family in my new Public Service engagement.
Our hand of friendship is again extended to all those who wish to join us in the great task of moving Sokoto State forward.
We therefore owe our victory to the generosity of a great many people who have given their energy and resources to make this day possible.
Abdullahi Umar Ganduje:
Kano (APC)
Ganduje said the victory was due to the total support of Governor Kwankwaso saying he would continue with APC and Kwankwasiyya policies as executive governor of the state.
