ABUJA—Chairman of the defunct Presidential Screening Committee of All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, has warned against the manipulation of the electoral process and rigging in Saturday’s governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections.

Onu, who was particular about the exercise in South-East and South-South geopolitical zones, said the last presidential elections were massively rigged in favour of People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

According to him, there were instances where the card readers were manipulated and result sheets not supplied but in the end, results were written in the houses of some individuals.

Should there be a repeat of such in Saturday’s elections, Onu, who was also the former governor of Abia State, said it would not be acceptable to his party.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja yesterday, Onu further stated that the coming of APC had helped to introduce a healthy competition in the political arena, stressing that power now belonged to the people of Nigeria to chose who their leaders would be.
