Ado Ekiti—The seven Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), members in Ekiti State House of Assembly yesterday insisted that the assembly is currently on recess, saying their action was legal  and  in tandem with the Standing Order of the House.

Speaking in a telephone   interview with Vanguard in Ado Ekiti, yesterday, Hon Ajibola Samuel Oyedele, the Leader of Government Business, blamed the 19 All Progressives Congress, (APC), lawmakers for allegedly absconding from their duty posts since November 2014 without any cogent reason.

When asked whether the Standing Order or Rules of the House allows them to go on recess indefinitely, Ajibola, who is representing Ekiti East 2 in the Assembly, said the House Rule allows them to go for a month or two months recess in as much as they   meet the stipulated number of days  which he put as 186 or 189 in a year.

“It is very much in order for us to be on recess. The Speaker, acting in accordance with the House Standing Order could go on recess for a month or two, but the House must have been in session for at least 186 or 189 days,” he said.
